The general nurse and the pediatric nurse are recognized in the European countrys (Anerkennung pflegefachlicher Qualifikationen in der Europäischen Union (EU) , www.dbfk.de). Nurses may register with nurses association, this is facultative. There are efforts to create a central and obligatory registration.
As there is no comparable vocational training for the Elderly Care nurse, this qualification in not recognized in the European countries and Elderly care nurses often work in foreign countries as assistant nurses.
